Corita Kent

The goal of this project was to create a value scale portrait using patterns. In this project, I used an assortment of Adobe patterns and self-created patterns. When creating patterns, I evaluated the recurring words, images, and themes in Corita Kent’s artwork to add more meaning to her portrait. To achieve the correct value for the patterns, I adjusted the gray tones and pattern density.

Geometric Nature Collage

The goal of this project was to create an abstract Geometric collage. To achieve this look, I used a mix of lines, geometric shapes, and images. I toggled opacities and line patterns to add interest and unity to the piece. In addition, I used clipping masks to include photos geometrically.

Surreal Self Portrait

The goal of this project was to combine various Photoshop techniques to create a surreal self-portrait. In this piece, I used clipping masks, quick masks, mesh warp blending modes, hue adjustments, the patch tool, and generative fill to create a dream-like, surreal atmosphere.

Animated Typography

The goal of this project was to create a 30-second animation of a quote in After Effects. This project focused on typography animation. As such, the focus was on words; however, the project required the use of a simple complementary image and music. During production, the music was used to animate the typography and prompt transitions. In this project, I attempted to capture the style of the Romantic era because my quote originated from this period. I chose my background image, type style, and music with this in mind.
